The United Nations started with human rights and went up to the Global Compact - a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Many companies shaped their Code of Conduct according to the Global Compact.
ISO establishes a Guidance on Social Responsibility - ISO 26000 - that will be as important as ISO 9000 on Quality Management or ISO 14000 on Environmental Protection.
